Following the Nougat update roll out for the Moto G4 and the G4 plus, A post on the Official Motorola Blog has now confirmed that the Moto Z and the Z Force will soon become “first smartphones from another manufacturer to be recognized by Google as Daydream-ready devices."

Daydream is Google’s platform for high quality, mobile VR. The catch here is you will need access to Daydream View VR Headset which for now is only being sold in the US.

While mobile VR is not new, this is Google’s first big push into the VR Hardware market, if you discount the DIY Google Cardboard. The Nougat update for both the phones will start rolling out globally this week.

While the Moto Z Force has yet to make its way to India, the Moto Z is available along with four moto mods that aim to enhance the Z experience. There is, however, no mention of the Moto Z __play in blog post, it is worth noting, however, that the company has already confirmed the update for the G4 series, last year’s Moto X series, and the Z Play, so hopefully the announcement for the rollout for __play isn’t too far off.

While the new features post update haven’t been detailed for the Moto Z and Z Force, the update for the G4 series brings with it a comprehensive change list such as “new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls, improved data saver functions and battery features.” These features are in addition to updates and enhancements to Moto specific updates such as a new Moto action which allows you to swipe to shrink the screen. The G4 plus now has a setting that prevents the screen from locking, when you touch the fingerprint sensor if the screen is on.

Gee, thanks, Moto! Let’s just say there are going to be tons of anxious visits to the Settings > About > Software Update screen till everyone gets the update.
