Political censorship takes place in countries throughout the globe. And there are also countries that have their own internal internet to debar citizen from accessing wider world web like North Korea. And now, Turkey has once again enforced ban on social media after the detention of 11 Kurdish-backed politicians in southeast Turkey as a part of counter terrorism inquiry, as per news reports.

According to tweet by an internet monitoring group TurkeyBlocks:

The Daily Dot has revealed that Turkey has initiated the following steps to prevent protests. It must be noted that internet restrictions are increasingly being used in Turkey so that these political incidents are not covered by the media coverage of political incidents, which will curb the rise of civil unrest.

While broadband and mobile internet operators are facing the social media blackout, normal SMS and voice services are still being used, revealed TurkeyBlocks researchers.

Even in September this year, a full internet shutdown had reportedly affected Turkey’s Southeast regions after the state removed elected local officials from office in predominantly ethnic-Kurdish regions of the country. Even then, the loss of connectivity affected both landline and mobile Internet operators through fifteen cities, cutting off an estimated 12 million Turkish citizens.
