Even at 90, Chuck Berry is not one to hang up his boots. Putting even young artists to shame, the founder of rock'n'roll has made a surprise album announcement on his 90th birthday, the first in 38 years.

The new album will be named Chuck and will release on the Nashville based music label Dualtone. The album is going to be a late follow up to the 1979 album Rock it. It will release next year.

While more details of the album hasn't surfaced, The Guardian UK says it would mostly consist of new material written and produced by Chuck Berry himself. The album has been recorded at his hometown St Louis.

"The record is dedicated to my beloved Toddy," Berry said about the album in a statement to The Guardian indicating the album would be the last to be dedicated to his wife of 58 years. "My darlin' I'm growing old! I've worked on this record for a long time. Now I can hang up my shoes," he added.

The new record also features Chuck Berry's children Charles Berry Jr and Ingrid who __play the guitar and harmonica. His son Charles told The Guardian, "What an honor to be part of this new music. The St Louis band, or as dad called us 'The Blueberry Hill Band', fell right into the groove and followed his lead. The songs cover the spectrum from hard driving rockers to soulful thought provoking time capsules of a life's work."
