Here's your chance to get hired in Genpact. The company is on a hiring spree and is looking for IT professionals with specific tech skills. The company claims that its hiring trend has not changed despite the slowdown in the industry. TechGig spoke to Yogendra Jain, Global Talent Acquisition Leader at Genpact to explore company's IT hiring plans. Excerpts:

1. What are the top 5 software skills Genpact is hiring for?

The skills that we are currently looking for in prospective employees are Java, QA (testing), Business Intelligence, DotNet, Oracle Developers and Administrators and SAP.

2. What are the top 5 qualities that Genpact look for while hiring IT related talent (software developers)?

Skill in the relevant platform and industry domain expertise are critical qualifiers. Next is a person's curiosity; he/she should be hungry to learn. The passion that you bring to the table is of utmost importance and last but not the least, one needs to have excellent communication skills.

3. Given the fact that industry is going slowdown or said transition, how has the hiring pattern changed for Genpact?

While it's true that there is an overall slowdown in the industry but our hiring trends have not changed drastically. There has been a marginal decrease for us and it isn't as much as the industry is predicting.

4. Please share the hiring numbers at Genpact in 2016 and how have they fared as compared to 2015?

We have seen a marginal decline in 2016 as compared to 2015. We have still a few more months to go before we close 2016 and the consolidated numbers will not be disappointing.

5. Do you have someany hiring plans ready for 2017, now that 2016 is coming to an end?

We don't expect an immediate turnaround happening in 2017 H1. Having said that, we are seeing a lot of traction in our value proposition around Lean Digital and it has been very well accepted by our clients. Few service lines like SAP are also seeing an upswing, which is considerably higher than the others.

6. What do you think of these unconventional hiring methods like coding contest?

Innovation in hiring methods is critical to getting top talent. For us, coding contests are certainly useful as they test the theoretical concepts in a practical business environment and allow us specific interventions to get the best out of the candidate.

7. Are coding contests helpful for hiring of software talent at Genpact?

Yes, of course, it does help for a few specialised skills. In combination with other hiring processes, we leverage them for overall hiring effectiveness.
