The OnePlus 3T has been unleashed in India today in an event in New Delhi. The replacement to the six-month-old OnePlus 3 will be available in India exclusively on Amazon India from December 14th. It comes for Rs 29,999 for the 64GB variant and Rs 34,999 for the 128GB variant.
The OnePlus 3T which builds up on the design equilibrium achieved in the OnePlus 3, now comes with a faster processor, a bigger battery, and more storage, among other things.
The smartphone will be manufactured in India. OnePlus 3T is powered by the Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35GHz. It is the same that powers the likes of the Google Pixel phones and Xiaomi's Mi Mix and the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe. The superfast offering from Qualcomm is complemented by 6GB of RAM, like the OnePlus 3 and it now comes in two storage options- the usual 64GB and a whopping 128GB.
The OnePlus 3T essentially has the same fascia as the OnePlus 3, with no change in the design whatsoever. It comes with the same 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED screen with a pixel density of 401ppi.
The new OnePlus flagship retains the 16-megapixel camera with Sony IMX 298 sensor on the rear but gets the additional support of next-generation Electronic Image Stabilisation that comes as part of the Snapdragon 821 SoC, to reduce shakiness in videos. On the front, OnePlus has bumped up the resolution of the camera to 16-megapixel from the 8-megapixel found in the OnePlus 3. It comes with a Samsung 3P8SP sensor with big 1 micron pixels and a wide f/2.0 aperture to take in more light for selfies.
However, even with the superior front camera and the newest flagship processor, the best improvement made in the OnePlus 3T is the battery. The OnePlus 3T comes with a 3,400mAh battery that will be more than enough to last you a day, something that the OnePlus 3 couldn't deliver with its 3,000mAh battery. Morever, the OnePlus 3T comes with the Dash Charger that OnePlus claimed will charge your phone to full capacity in just half an hour.
Although rumoured to come running the latest Android, the OnePlus 3T runs on Android Marshmallow with Oxygen OS on top. However, OnePlus has promised to bring the Android Nougat update to both the OnePlus 3T and the OnePlus 3 by the end of this month.
OnePlus has had a good run in the industry this year. During the event, OnePlus claimed it has grabbed the second spot in the premium smartphones segment in India, right behind Samsung.
