Recent rumors have suggested that the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will come with wireless charging and now Apple has joined the Wireless Power Consortium.
The Wireless Power Consortium are responsible the for Qi wireless charging standard and Apple apparently joined the group last week.
The guys over at Business Insider reach out to Apple and got a reply, you can see a statement from Apple below.
Apple is an active member of many standards development organizations, as both a leader and contributor. Apple is joining the Wireless Power Consortium to be able to participate and contribute ideas to the open, collaborative development of future wireless charging standards. We look forward to working together with the WPC and its members.
So if looks like there is a good chance that the new iPhone 8 will come with wireless charging, the handset is expected to launch some time in September.
