Breaking down the numbers, the Summer Surprise Offer by Jio gives users not three months but four months of services. Once a customer recharges his Jio number by Rs 303 plan before April 15, he/she is entitled to get three months of free services and the plan would only get activated in July. So, assuming someone has taken up this tariff plan which itself is valid for 28 days, the next recharge they need to get will only be in the month of August. In a way, Reliance Jio is practically offering 28GB data per month for the next four months at Rs 75 which is way too low considering the telecom market in India. But since its launch, if anything, the company is known for the disruption of the telecom sector in India.
In his statement, Mukesh Ambani also announced that since the announcement of Jio Prime Membership offer back in February, more than 72 million subscribers had converted to the Prime offer. He said, “I am conscious that this is the largest migration from free to paid services in history. We are committed to doing this gradually so that both Jio and Jio customers have the time to adjust, fine tune and perfect the transition.”
Seeing Jio, offer data tariffs at such rates rival telecom operators in the country are surely going to counter it. After Jio’s announcement, Idea revised its Rs 348 tariff plan which earlier used to offer 500 MB per day and will now be offering 1GB 4G data every day for 28 days with unlimited local and STD calls.

State-run BSNL also jumped the bandwagon this time around and countered Jio’s offer with its Rs 339 plan under which a user will get 2GB of 3G data per day for 28 days with unlimited calls.
