After teasing the bike for months, Bajaj has finally launched its highly anticipated Bajaj Dominar 400 in India. The Dominar 400 starts at Rs. 1.36 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

This is the biggest bike ever built by the company and is said to be the first in its series that focuses on big bikes for the growing premium bike segment.

Eric Vas, President of Motorcycle Business, Bajaj Auto, went on to speak on the launch and said, “We believe that a high quality product with the latest technology and offering high performance should be accessible, unlike what many think that high quality and premiumness is also expensive. So we've priced it at Rs 1.36 lakh to make it accessible to a wide range of customers.”

The Dominar 400 comes powered by a 373.2cc DTS-i single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine, which manages to push out 34.5bhp at 8000rpm and 35Nm of torque at 8500rpm. The bike is accompanied with a 6 speed gearbox, along with a slipper clutch, which is the first of a kind technology used on a Bajaj bike.

For suspension, the on the front is a 43 mm telescopic front fork, whereas at the back is an adjustable monoshock rear suspension. For braking, the Dominar comes with 320 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes along with dual-channel ABS technology.

In terms of styling, the bike is a mix of a cruiser like sports bike and comes with a full LED headlamp with Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) function as standard.

Bajaj has made the bike available in three colour options of Midnight Blue, Twilight Plum and Moon White. It will be available in two version, first being a non-ABS version that will cost Rs 1.36 lakhs (ex-shaowroom, Delhi) and the second being an ABS variant that will cost Rs 1.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Considering the competition like Royal Enfield Classic 350, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto went on to say that, "People can ride the Bullet and if they want to go faster than the Bullet, they can ride the Dominar."
